Big Shots

The Eye-Fi team is proud to introduce our 2010 “Big Shots”, who will represent the Eye-Fi brand and products online and in the community. Eye-Fi Big Shots are avid Eye-Fi enthusiasts there to help the community learn about Eye-Fi and how they use their cards. The Eye-Fi Big Shot term is one year, so meet the Big Shot Class of 2010/2011:

Rick Bucich, California

Rick is married and spends his days in marketing for an online retailer but has been enjoying digital photography in his leisure time since 2000. He holds a Masters degree in American History and is an avid UCLA fan. Favorite photography subjects are people, sports, architecture and getting creative with wide apertures. With a young son, children are frequent subjects but his most thrilling moment has been photographing the Mavericks Surf Contest.

“I was hooked on the idea of Eye-Fi at inception, after reading about the wireless memory card on a trade website, I ran across their headquarters and stopped by. They probably thought I was odd for dropping in to offer words of encouragement. At the time, I don’t think the product had hit the market yet but I soon purchased one for a relative notorious for never downloading images from his camera. Since then, I have owned several but the Eye-Fi Pro X2 cards with ad-hoc support are my favorite since they allow me to publish images from events in near real time via portable hotspot.”

Alexa Corcoran, Maryland

Alexa is thrilled to become an Eye-Fi Big Shot, as it is one more exciting adventure to add to her busy-but-full life. Over the last fifteen years, Alexa lived in four cities, got her Masters Degree at The Johns Hopkins University, soared in marketing during the Dot Com boom in Silicon Valley, co-founded a retail food business in the mid-Atlantic, launched her own freelance agency and … oh yes… became a mother to two beautiful children. And, she’s pretty much photographed it all.
At the heart of her life is Alexa’s family, her husband and 6- and 8-year old daughters. Alexa is always the mother with camera (or two) in hand, shooting photos of school events, sports games, dance recitals, birthday parties, backyard fun and everything in between.

“I originally purchased the Eye-Fi Card as an impulse buy the night before my daughter’s 6th birthday. Not only was it a joyous birthday but “Snowmageddon” hit Baltimore – two blizzards, over 72 inches of snow – you get the idea. Add to the mix a party for 26 Kindergarteners, and my Eye-Fi card transferred and uploaded nearly 600 photos in 10 days. That’s when I realized this was just the beginning of a beautiful friendship! I now transfer all of my photos Eye-Fi Style! It’s made sharing images a snap! I could not be more proud to be Eye-Fi’s Busy Mom Big Shot!”

Steven David, Texas

Steven has been an Eye-Fi user for approximately one year, taking the Eye-Fi Card to a new level of live event photography. Steven photographs events from small parties to large corporate events and concerts. When shooting live events, he uses the Eye-Fi card to wirelessly transfer images to his computer and online in real time- freeing him up to work on multiple projects.

“I am excited about being an Eye-Fi Big Shot as I enjoy sharing tips with other photographers. Hopefully, I can show other photographers ways to get more use from their camera.”

Beyond his photography business, Steven is known to locals in the Houston area as “Grape Nut” while doing work for the Snowdrop Foundation, as they raise money for Pediatric Cancer and give college scholarships to young cancer survivors. If you’re ever in Houston be on the lookout for Grape Nut in his purple unitard, tutu, bunny ears and tiara!

Chris Harmon, Indiana

Chris is a new Eye-Fi user but couldn’t be a bigger fan! Her Eye-Fi card far exceeded her expectations! Not only was she a very infrequent downloader of pictures, but also like many people, she struggled to organize her multitudes of photos. Chris can be spotted most frequently with a camera around her neck while photographing her son, the great outdoors, or anything random that catches her eye.

“I absolutely love that my pictures now download themselves and automatically go into separate folders based on the date the pictures were taken. I’m excited to be an Eye-Fi Big Shot because I think every photographer, no matter what skill level, can benefit from the Eye-Fi Card. “

Dave Herwig, North Carolina

Dave is a single father of three wonderful children. Originally from Amherst, Ohio Dave has been in the US Army for the past 22 years and is currently stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He joined the Army straight out of high school and has been blessed with many opportunities including traveling around the world. Dave started taking photos at the beginning of his Army career, back in the days of 35mm film and bought his first digital camera in 1999.

“Travelling a lot, seeing interesting places and people, a point and shoot wasn’t working. I was introduced to the Eye-Fi about a year ago by a friend and knew I wanted one. Since I travel with my job, I enjoy taking photos of places and the people I meet. I don’t take one certain type of photo but I always try to take a photo to remember everywhere I have travelled. I am extremely excited to become an Eye-Fi Big Shot because I love this product. It is such a time saver.”

Gary McCready, New Jersey

Gary lives in Westfield, NJ with his family and works nearby as a Storage Manager for an International Bank. When he’s not busy working, Gary also participates as a member of the Westfield School board, and volunteers with HP’s user group.

“With my busy schedule I appreciate my Eye-Fi Card! It automatically backs-up photos to my PC and Phanfare, my favorite photo website. My most recent photo toy is the Kodak W820 picture frame, which allows (via Wifi) photos off Phanfare to appear on the frame shortly after being transferred from my Eye-Fi card.”

Holly Pierpont, Ohio

Holly is a busy lady, working full time, and a mom to a five year old and twin infants. She enjoys digital scrap booking, so she’s always trying to capture life events and milestones with her camera. Thus, her kids probably recognize mommy as the lady with the camera in front of their face. Holly considers herself somewhat of a technology junkie, always looking for the latest and greatest gadgets to save her time. She purchased her first Eye-Fi Card a couple of years ago and now doesn’t leave home without it!

“When one of our twins had heart surgery at sixteen days old, I was able to share our experience and pictures with friends and family globally, utilizing my Eye-Fi card and tools. I could do all of this, while sitting bedside at the hospital, in just minutes! For this reason, I look forward to spreading the word about Eye-Fi products, and encourage others to save time and effort with their photography. Anyone with a busy lifestyle stands to gain time back with Eye-Fi!”
