Eye-Fi Card wins top honors at Macworld

Yesterday afternoon, shortly before the Macworld Best of Show presentation, somebody representing Macworld came by the Eye-Fi booth and asked if anyone from Eye-Fi was going to be attending the presentation. He was suggesting that someone from Eye-Fi should get there soon. Co-Founder Yuval Koren headed over to Moscone Center West to attend. Good call, because during the presentation he learned that the Eye-Fi Card had been selected as one of 11 recipients of the Macworld Best of Show award for 2008.

The Eye-Fi Crew is happy to have been selected for this award, which represents the most exciting and innovative products from this years Macworld. Of the 11 Macworld Best of Show recipients only three were non-software products, the Apple Macbook Air, the NEC MultiSync LCD3090WQXi and the Eye-Fi Card. Here is what the Macworld publishers had to say about the Eye-Fi Card:

“At first, you think it’s just another SD card. It pops into your digital camera just like one. It stores your digital photographs—2GB worth—just like one. But it doesn’t upload those photos like one. Instead of unplugging the Eye-Fi card ($100) from your camera and then plugging it into a card reader connected to your Mac, it uploads your digital photos from your camera to your Mac wirelessly—no plugging or unplugging, no card readers.”

All of this followed an earlier announcement that the Eye-Fi Card was chosen as one of 12 products to receive The Mac Observer’s first Editors’ Choice Awards for 2008 which represents the best of the best of the products being shown at Macworld. We are pretty happy to be part of this first ever Mac Observer’s editors choice list. Here is what The Mac Observer had to say about the Eye-Fi Card:

“The Eye-Fi takes an elegant approach to solving the problem of wireless connectivity between your camera and your computer by adding that capability directly to a memory card, with the camera none with wiser. As soon as a picture is saved to the Eye-Fi, it can sent to iPhoto on your Mac, one of several leading online photo sharing, printing, social networking or blogging sites, or both. The Eye-Fi was selected because it’s the first product to really do this job properly, and it brings wireless capabilities to any camera.”

Talking to attendees and sharing our personal excitement for the Eye-Fi Card is great fun, being recognized as having a great product makes the experience all the better for us. If you are attending Macworld this year stop by our booth and say “cheese” when one of us walks up to you to snap your photo.
