Are you sometimes away from home when you upload? Or is your camera on but your computer is still asleep?
Save effort. Save time. With Relayed Uploads, no need to have your computer and your camera on at the same time. Your broadband line or hotspot connection will whisk your media to Eye-Fi’s servers, where it will be held until you have a chance to turn your computer back on.
If you have enabled photo or video sharing, relayed uploads are automatically enabled. If you don’t have it yet, this update will have you wanting to hug our engineering team (please don’t).
How it works:
- With Relayed Upload enabled, turn your camera on in an authorized Wi-Fi network (you can add multiple Wi-Fi networks in the “Settings” tab of the Manager, even hidden networks).
- Your photos and videos get temporarily stored on the Eye-Fi server until you turn your computer on.
- Next time your destination computer is turned on, the media is automatically downloaded, and media is erased from Eye-Fi servers.
Who needs to take action?
- If you have a Home card, or any other card that is sending media only to a computer (no online destination), then follow the steps below.
- If you have a Share, Share Video, Explore, or Explore Video card *and* you’ve selected an online destination for your photos and destinations, no change for you. Same ole’ same ole’ convenience. Sit back and relax!
How to get it set up:
1. Login to http://manager.eye.fi. Make sure you have the latest version of the Eye-Fi Manager. Not sure? Click on the Eye-Fi Application icon and select “Check for updates”. Complete the updates and proceed.
2. In settings, you’ll see this new category, called “Upload Settings”.

3. If you see the message below, plug in your Eye-Fi card and follow the steps to update the firmware.

4. Select “Enable Relayed Uploads”.

Tip: If you want to send your photos to a computer on a different network, make sure that the card has been configured for the networks you want to upload from. If you have an Explore or an Explore Video card, you can also enable hotspots, which will instantly give you access to an extra 10,000 locations in the US. You can also purchase the service for only $14.99/year. That’s a lot of traveling in perspective!
