What’s your Eye-Fi story?
Each year in spring, Carnegie Mellon holds a spring carnival, featuring many different events including soapbox car-style races called Buggy, a line tracking robot race, spectacular booths build by student organizations and concert. This year, as The Tartan, we wanted to provide live coverage of events using photos, on our carnival page. We bought an Eye-Fi card and set up a system where the photos would be sent over the campus-wide WiFi network to our servers and from there to our website. This way, our photographers could just keep taking photographs, without having to drop them off and our visitors would see our photographs almost in real time.
The live coverage increased visits dramatically and the overall reception from the community was very positive. We have plans to cover the carnival even more depth in the next years and we are sure Eye-Fi will be an important part of those plans.
