Earlier today, Flickr announced that it was giving itself a makeover (full New York Times article here). For the complete scoop, check out the Flickr blog.
We went to our Flickr accounts to get the sneak preview:

In addition to a bigger image for single image views, Flickr is allotting extra space for the maps – not surprising, with the company’s 130 million geotagged photos! It’s fun to see the location information get a new place on the Flickr space (pun intended), as photos can now be seen in context. We found it to be a great tool as photographers to remember cool locations for shoots, or simply to organize our vacation photos.
Geotagging is definitely a great trend in photo taking and has seen a tremendous growth in the last few years. In fact, last year, we had featured Picasa’s integration of geotagged photos in their dashboard as part of our Geotagging feature highlight:

Geotagging is part of our experience as photo takers – it adds the “where” to the “what” we were experiencing for each photo. That’s why it’s so exciting that the Eye-Fi memory cards can automatically geotag photos using WPS technology – now you can simply turn your camera on, and see photos appear on Flickr automatically geotagged! So discover the world and share it automatically
